Thank you , welcome back to another episode of Project 3P . I'm your host , Shirod Ince . Today , I'm going to share with you one of my favorite phrases what is delayed is not denied which originates from God's . Delays are not his denials . We've all faced rejection or setbacks in our lives , whether it's in our careers , relationships or personal endeavors . But what if I told you that some of the most significant breakthroughs and achievements in history started with a resounding no ? I'm going to share with you two stories of athletes who were delayed or told no , but not denied .
Shirod InceOne of the most eccentric players to ever step on the court , dennis Rodman , was a defensive behemoth . However , the five-time NBA champion did not start out as a promising prospect . In high school , rodman couldn't even make a layup and he was benched or cut every single year . He also tried to switch boards and had a crack at football , but was also rejected there . Dennis Rodman had a late growth spurt from 5'11 to 6'7 after high school . At 19 years old , while working overnight as a janitor at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport , he decided to give basketball one more shot . This time , the sport stuck , as he played one semester before failing off the team and averaged 17.6 points and 13.3 rebounds . After failing , he transferred to Southern Oklahoma State University where he was a three-time NAIA All-American and led the conference in rebounding twice . His averages for those years were 25.7 points and 15.7 rebounds , while having a .637 field goal percentage . This was all before being drafted by the Pistons in 1986 . In the 1989 , 90 , and 1990-91 seasons , rodman won back-to-back NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards . In the 1991-92 season , dennis Rodman won the first of seven consecutive rebounding titles , averaging 18.7 rebounds per game . In the following years , he went on to win championships in the 1995-96 , 96-97 , and 97-98 seasons before retiring in 2000 . Dennis Rodman was delayed many times in his career , but he was never denied his destiny of becoming the greatest rebounder to play in the
Shirod InceNBA . Two of the most iconic figures in sports history the Williams sisters . In case you're unfamiliar , the Williams sisters were two professional American tennis players Venus , born in 1980 , a seven-time Grand Slam title winner , and Serena , born in 1981 , a 23-time Grand Slam title winner . Venus and Serena overcame adversity in the tennis world through a combination of talent , resilience and determination . Despite facing racism and sexism , they remained focused on their goals , owning their skills through rigorous training and unwavering self-belief . They drew strength from each other and their family , who provided crucial support and encouragement throughout their journey . Additionally , they used their platform to speak out against injustice and advocate for change within the
Shirod Incesport . In 2002 , after the French Open , venus and Serena were ranked number one and number two in the world on singles . This marked the first time in history that sisters occupied the top two positions . In June of 2010 , venus and Serena again held the number one and number two ranking spot in singles . Eight years later held the number one and number two ranking spot in singles . Eight years
Shirod Incelater . Between the 2001 US Open and the 2017 Australian Open , they contested nine major finals . They became the first two players , female or male , to contest four consecutive major singles finals , from the 2002 French Open to the 2003 Australian Open . Serena famously won all four to complete what is known as the first of two Serena slams . Between 2000 and 2016 , they collectively won 12 Wimbledon singles titles . Venus won five and Serena won seven . Nonetheless , they remained very close , often watching each other's matches in support , even after one of them had been knocked out of a tournament . By winning the 2001 Australian Open doubles title , they became the fifth pair of women to complete the career Grand Slam in doubles and the first pair to complete the career Golden Slam in doubles . At the time , venus and Serena were only 20 and 19 years old . Since then , they went on to add another two Olympic gold medals , one at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the other at the 2012 London Olympics . The duo achieved an on-calendar year grand slam between the 2009 Wimbledon and the 2010 Roland Garros , which made them the co-number one doubles players as of June 2010 . Their last major doubles title came at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships . Both players won four gold medals at the Olympics one each in singles and three in doubles all won together the most of any tennis players . Venus also won a silver in mixed doubles at the 2016 Rio
Shirod InceOlympics . Through their remarkable achievements and unyielding perseverance , venus and Serena shattered barriers and became symbols of empowerment , inspiring generations of female athletes and individuals to overcome adversity and pursue excellence in their own lives . So what can we learn from these stories of some of the greatest athletes to ever play their game ? The answer to all of this is really simple . What is delayed is not denied . If you seriously have it in you , you won't give up . There will be tough times only to make you tougher . There will be setbacks only to help you refine your strategies . There will be failures only to make success taste sweeter to you . It's about believing in your purpose , having the poise and resilience to persevere and having the passion to keep pushing forward toward your goals , even after you are told no . If you were inspired by these athlete stories , here are some ways you can adopt the delays are not denials
Shirod Incemindset . One have an open communication . Discuss the concept of delayed success openly and encourage understanding that setbacks can lead to future opportunities . Five encouraging resilience Teach coping strategies and resilient skills to manage disappointment and maintain motivation during delays .
